If your dog’s food has been recalled, stop feeding it immediately. You may obtain a refund by returning the food to the store where it was purchased. Consult your veterinarian if your dog has already eaten the recalled food to determine what actions you should take. It’s best to consult your veterinarian immediately, even if your dog shows no illness. Your vet can decide what action should be taken based on why the food was recalled.
Can’t reach your vet? Chat with a veterinary professional via our online live vet chat (24 hours a day, 7 days a week).
You should file a complaint with the FDA if your dog becomes ill or dies after eating a recalled food product. Contact your state’s FDA consumer complaint coordinator for more information or file a report online. Try finding a similar food to replace the recalled food, or ask your veterinarian for recommendations if you cannot feed your dog his usual diet. Dogs may experience dietary distress when their diet changes abruptly, so be thoughtful about your approach.
