Updated May 28, 2026: What Dog Dood Is On Recall Right Now?
The latest FDA advisory involves Raaw Energy Dog Food, after the company expanded a recall of multiple frozen raw dog food products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The affected products include items manufactured between 07/17/2025 and 12/23/2025, along with one batch of Beef and Turkey Medley dated 03/31/2026. The recalled products were sold in 2-pound and 5-pound clear plastic tubes packaged in brown cardboard boxes.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause illness in both dogs and humans. People may be exposed by handling the recalled pet food, touching contaminated surfaces such as bowls, utensils, countertops, or coming into contact with pets that consumed the product. The FDA notes that the risk may increase when hands and surfaces are not thoroughly washed after exposure.
Symptoms in people may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, muscle aches, and abdominal cramping. Severe infections may spread to the nervous system and can lead to meningitis, pregnancy complications, or death. In pets, possible signs include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, fever, decreased appetite, and abdominal pain. Some infected pets may not show symptoms but can still carry and spread the bacteria through their saliva or feces.
The recalled products were distributed through the company’s website and pickup locations in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. According to the company announcement, the recall was issued after state laboratory testing detected Listeria contamination in multiple product samples.
If you purchased these products, do not feed, sell, or donate them. Dispose of the food immediately in a secure container so children, pets, and wildlife cannot access it. Wash and sanitize pet food bowls, utensils, storage containers, countertops, and any surfaces that may have come into contact with the recalled food, and thoroughly wash your hands after handling the product.
Please refer to the table below for more information on this and other recalls.

What to Do If Your Dog Food Is Recalled?
If your dog’s food has been recalled, stop feeding it immediately. You may obtain a refund by returning the food to the store where it was purchased. Alternatively, please dispose of the food so that other animals cannot access it. Consult your veterinarian if your dog has already eaten the recalled food to determine the appropriate course of action. It’s best to consult your veterinarian immediately, even if your dog shows no illness. Your vet can determine the appropriate course of action based on the reason for the recall.
Can’t reach your vet? Chat with a veterinary professional via our online live vet chat (24 hours a day, 7 days a week).
You should file a complaint with the FDA if your dog becomes ill or dies after eating a recalled food product. Contact your state’s FDA consumer complaint coordinator for more information or file a report online. Try finding a similar food to replace the recalled food, or ask your veterinarian for recommendations if you cannot feed your dog his usual diet. Dogs may experience dietary distress when their diet changes abruptly, so be thoughtful about your approach.
